Shankar Meembat is a sales and marketing executive specializing in opening markets, business development and generating top line sales growth in the telecoms market, specializing in B2B2C and new internet services.

After a long period on corporate work, I have now embarked on taking these skills to the entrepreneurial and small business world. I see this as a way of giving back to the industry what I have learnt from it, while keeping those grey cells continuously active and learning even more.

I have an own start-up in the mobile internet service and am active with other entrepreneurial ventures as an advisor and/or investor.

My strength comes from my uniquely diverse education and experience. With a background in both business and technology,  I have shaped new products, made new market entries, created winning partnership and channel alliances and closed a number of deals.

My Breadth of Experience developing business goes across a variety of geographic markets, functions and products. A very strong consumer focus has meant that my customers and partners have benefited through seeing their consumer’s needs met.

  • Product Engineering Manager – Driving Product development of telecommunications systems to open up new clientele
  • Country Manager – Driving new business opportunities in emerging markets such as China, India  & Indonesia, closing lucrative deals that have paid back in less than a year
  • Top Sales Producer – Led a geographically spread sales team to implement true solution selling to Mobile operators in APAC. The team overachieved on sales and new entries.
  • New Business development – Built up the regional sales and partnering team for a new service. Delivered exceptional growth leading to being tapped to a global role heading all of the regions globally.
  • Go To Market – Expanded market opportunities by taking a service to new markets. Drove the localization, legal compliance and marketing to ensure a successful launch of the service in over 30 markets over a nine month period
  • International scaling – Built a new organisation, processes and way of working to locally scale a global function by designing the appropriate structure to get the benefits of centralised scale together with local decision making and execution.
